John Chart was accidentally killed when he was struck on thehead by the engine of the London-Brighton Express (South EastCoast Railway Company) when it was travelling through NuthurstSSX. There was an inquest held on the 26th June 1879 by JEdward Fullenger, deputy coroner for Sussex.
John married Jane Botting on 21 Sep 1862 in Nuthurst, Sussex. (Jane Botting died before 1870.)
