John's surname was also spelt AWCOCK. He was described as a"vulgo hawk" int the burial registers.

John married Ann Box, daughter of John Box and Hannah Hams, on 22 Jul 1784 in Ardingly, Sussex. (Ann Box was born on 6 May 1763 in Ardingly, Sussex, died in Jul 1831 in Hapstead Green Ssx and was buried on 8 Jul 1831 in Ardingly, Sussex.)

  Marriage Notes:

They were married by banns. John was a single man and Ann aspinster. They were both of Ardingly and both signed their ownnames. The witnesses were Richard Creasy and Thomas Barben whoalso signed their own names.
